Mumm Magnum

Situated within Reims, G.H. Mumm is one of the largest Champagne producers within the region. It was founded in 1827 by three German brothers with winemaking heritage dating back to the 17th Century and in 1876 Georges Hermann Mumm gave the Champagne House his initials and decorated the bottles with the now famous, Cordon Rouge -a symbol of excellence, inspired by the Legion d’Honneur.

The Glasgow International Comedy Festival is the biggest comedy festival in Europe and runs from 14th March to 5th April. Now in its 12th year, the Glasgow International Comedy Festival offers nearly 105,000 tickets for 416 shows at 46 venues all over the city.

Sharing plate paired with a 250ml carafe of Mas Peuch Picpoul Di Pinet, Beauvignac, France. This wine transaltes as ‘lip-smacker!’.

Glasgow Cook Betters Cook Book

We’re excited to announce our involvement in a Glasgow Cooks Better cook book created by the Glasgow Restaurant Association (GRA) in support of The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice. As part of the GRA we have collectively pledged to raise £100K to help build the kitchen in the new hospice facility being built at Bellahouston Park.

Our superfood steak salad features in the book alongside celebrity recipes from Ken Stott, Carol Smilie and Alex Norton. Priced at £15, you can buy yours from The Butchershop Bar & Grill. The official launch happens on February and proceeds from the cook book with go towards our dedicated charity.

Beef and Burns at The Butchershop

A Man’s a Man for A’ That! In celebration of The Bard, we’ve got a few Burns inspired specials.

First up a salute to “Great chieftain o the puddin’-race!” our beef en croute with haggis; a 28 day dry-aged scotch fillet steak coated in haggis, wrapped in puff pastry and baked until crisp and golden. Served with bashed neeps, champit tatties, and a red wine jus.

No Burns Night is complete without whisky so let us present our “wee , sleekit, cow’rin, tim’rous beastie”; Jonny Walker Black Label, Glayva Whisky liqueur, Martini Rosso and Fee Brothers Whisky Barrel Bitters. Specially designed to cause “O’what a panic in thy breastie” Stirred through ice and served straight up.

Back the Mo!

As you all know The Butchershop Bar & Grill has been going tash tastic again this year in support of Movember inspired by our long term friend Jehad Hatu, who was diagnosed with Stage 3 testicular cancer last year and continues to be an inspiration to us all.
Movember UK and CLIC Sargent are both amazing charities helping awesome people like Jehad and many others through their medical journey and we want to thank all the customers who have donated throughout the month.

Thankfully Jehad’s treatment is going really well and along with his positive outlook and a long list of doctors, surgeons, nurses, health practitioners, and the support of his family and friends he is working towards making an excellent full recovery. Go Jehad!!

What The Butchershop is doing

In the spirit of the Movember, our dedicated Mo bros are going tash-tastic throughout the month growing real moustaches, causing debauchery and importantly giving a nod to all males to check their ‘meatballs’.

As well as the hair-growing activities our restaurant will be serving a Movember-themed pre-theatre menu which lasts the duration of November, with £1 from each cover going straight to our chosen charities. For those dining on our a la carte, £1 will be donated from each order of our signature steaks: cote de boeuf and t-bones. And if you wash it down with a bottle of selected wine or try our Mo-tastic chilli Moustacherita, £1 will also be donated into the Movember pot.

Our month long fundraising activities will culminate with a massive Mo-tastic party (because it rocked so much last year! Pics from last years event here) with a set three course menu to celebrate the best (and lamest/fake) moustaches. This event will be ‘pay what you think your meal is worth’ (min donation £20), with all proceeds going to Movember UK and CLIC Sargent. We have some amazing prizes for this year’s Movember raffle held on the evening. Butchershop Named Top Ten Restaurant for Steak in the UK

Our beef is best! We have been hand-picked as one of the UK’s top ten restaurants and the top Scottish restaurant for steak by FavouriteTable.com.

FavouriteTable.com is an online dedicated restaurant resource listing, and they produced the guide to acknowledge the top steak restaurants throughout the UK, hand-picked by their culinary experts from all major UK cities. The online publication has nearly received almost 45,000 views online.

As it gets closer to the party season we wanted to remind all of our customers of our opening times and offer an update to the menus we will be serving:

  • Closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day and open at all other times throughout the holiday season
  • We are having our traditional New Year’s Eve / Hogmanay party with a five course feasts of meats party and are open until 2am! Booking essential as limited spaces available. Book by calling 0141 339 2999.
  • We are open New Years Day 2014 in Glasgow and will be serving a special New Year’s Day menu from 12:30pm to cure those Hogmanay hangovers
