Butchershop Roll Out: Serving up breakfast for annual Taxis to Troon Posted on June 15, 2016 by The Butcher For over 70 years Glasgow’s taxi drivers have been donating their time, and decorating their taxis, to give Glasgow children a totally awesome day out. It’s practically a city institution at this point and should need no formal introduction, but really,we just love the epic work those guys do over there. Glasgow Taxi’s have taken children with special educational needs on an annual big day out down the Ayrshire Coast. Today over 300 children along with their parents and carers join the annual taxi outing to Troon. With over 150 taxi drivers lining the streets in their decorated cars the atmosphere was positively buzzing – even Glasgow weather couldn’t put a damper on spirits here! The annual outing leaves just across the road from us here at The Butchershop,so we wanted to do our small bit and make sure everyone was well fed before hitting the road. With sausages and bacon donated from our suppliers Cairnhill Farms and more tattie scones than you can shake a stick at, our staff handed out over 300 rolls to keep those bellies full for the long drive. Our owners James and Louise also mucked in, donning their Butchershop aprons for the big morning breakfast run. Louise said – “We wanted to show our support and praise the commitment of the taxi drivers involved by serving up bacon and sausage rolls to everyone involved before their journey to the seaside. We are delighted to play our part and we only hope this small gesture will making a positive difference to their day”. We wish all those involved with the Glasgow Taxi Outing Fund an awesome day, let’s hear it for Glasgow’s epic tax driver force! Find out more about their amazing work here and see you again next year!
